I am Subhranil Basu Ray. My qualifications are LLB(CU), MCA.

Although I am from the Science background I never wanted to study in the general stream and do a BSc, MSc as that was quite boring for me.

Doing an Engineering degree was a good idea but that did not materialize due to bad luck and poor financial condition of my family.

I was keen to join the Army through the Short Service Commission (SSC) and appeared for the UPSC Combined Defense Services (CDS) exam.

I was a topper in the UPSC’s Combined Defense Services (CDS) exam in the year 2004. Despite being a topper in the CDS exam I didn’t appear for the SSB interviews at the Allahabad center.

Becoming an advocate was a good idea for me given that my Father was practicing as one in the Calcutta High Court after his retirement as Senior Manager from Indian Oil Corporation(IOCL).So I completed my Law degree from Calcutta University in the year 1998.I followed it up with an MCA degree as I thought having knowledge in IT would be advantageous in present era where having multiple qualifications in different disciplines is the norm and having qualification in a single discipline is an oddity.

Myself as a writer

I am a writer from Childhood i.e., around the time I had appeared for my ICSE (Class 10 Board exam). I had written articles for “The Pioneer”, “The Telegraph”, Kolkata. One of my earliest articles was published in “Northern India Patrika” having title “India’s China Policy: Call for a reassessment”. This article was published on March 4,1996. Thus, writing is in my blood and DNA.

In recent times i.e., in 2016 I have written articles in the reputed Defense website www.indiandefencereview.com. I write articles on Defense, Foreign Policy, Geopolitics, Energy, Economy and Internal Security, issues that are vital to the survival of any country or nation. My articles in the above website are to be found in this link:  http://www.indiandefencereview.com/author/subhranilbasuray/

How am I different from a journalist?

A journalist does a writing job as his profession i.e., to earn his daily bread. The quality of the article of a journalist varies from person to person and newspaper to newspaper. A journalist has to churn out a huge volume of work in a short period of time as per the demands of his Employer. This leads to the deterioration in the quality of his or her articles. A journalist mostly writes articles on topics over which he or she has little or no conviction. He or she is not convinced about a topic but still has to write after gathering some materials only to continue the employment or to keep the Employer happy.

This has been happening in every country and in every era.

I write articles out of passion not out of any compulsion unlike a journalist. I have no compulsion like maintaining my employment or keeping my Employer happy. I am a freelance writer. I am a Comprehensive National Power (CNP) Strategist who writes articles for the enlightenment of readers in various countries, so that they understand its true meaning and work for the betterment of their respective country. I write only for the betterment of democratic nations like US, EU, India and some Asian nations. I am not afraid of criticizing current and previous governments of democratic nations if I feel that they have done wrong things or things that would lead to greater suffering of people of a country. There is hardly any journalist who would be as fearless as me. People are mostly diplomatic these days. I bring out the Truth while others beat around the bush.

Why I didn’t come out with my website earlier?

I wanted to come out with my website containing my blog earlier but work pressure coupled with bad luck didn’t allow me to embark on this venture. Whenever I had written any article earlier, I had done it with a free mind and never allowed any kind of pressure to influence it i.e., financial pressure or pressure to please someone or some government.

Whether readers like my articles or not?

My articles in the Defense website or in the newspapers mentioned earlier are viewed by hundreds of thousands of readers everyday. Most of my articles got a 5/5 rating given by the readers of my articles. If you compare it with that of articles of reputed journalists you will find that they had a 3/5 or below rating.

This is the difference between “articles written with a passion” and “articles written for the purpose of earning money”.
